The Sacramento Bee reports today that Sacramento-area Muslims are hosting a lunch for the homeless tomorrow, Sunday, between 1pm and 3pm.
Quoting the Bee report: "The goal of this lunch is to give back to the less fortunate during this holy time," said event organizer Mohammad Armiti. "At a time when the economic downturn worsens we must all work together to make sure the needs of all are taken care of."
The event is in celebration of Eid Al-Adha or the Muslim "Festival of Sacrifice," which commemorates the trials of Abraham. Traditionally, a portion of meat is given to the poor at this time.
The lunch will be held at The Capitol Plaza Grand Ballroom, 1215 J St.
